Popularising Science by reading

by webmaster on May 15, 2009

Here’s an interesting idea that I picked up reading an article in the Chicago Tribune today http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-ap-il-joannelovesscienc,0,5092553.story where the owner of the site www.joannelovesscience.com, Joanne Manaster was interviewed about the joy she finds in reading science books – particularly books aimed at middle and high school students – so below the level of a university lab instructor for instance.

So it got me thinking. I don’t know what the newspapers are like in the US or anything but certainly over here in Ireland they’re generally full of offers for classic books at low prices… so why not have offers for science books – would the type of people who never got the chance to read science in school maybe pick them up and start to learn some basics???
